For more than a half a century, Bayliff & Son Funeral Home has helped the families of Cridersville in their time of need. As a family-owned funeral home, we are familiar with our community and are committed to carrying out our family’s legacy of caring and personalized attention to families in need.

1938:

Walter E. Bayliff moved to Cridersville and bought half interest in Umbaugh Funeral Home, located at 213 West Main Street.

1942:

Walter purchased the Sally Baker Home, which was built in 1879. The home is listed in the 1880 Auglaize County Atlas and is located at 311 West Main Street.

1947:

Walter and his family moved into the new funeral home at 311 West Main Street in Cridersville, Ohio.

1969:

Bayliff & Son Funeral Home was incorporated into Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Inc.

1974:

The funeral home received an addition and renovations in order to better serve the community.

1977:

Walter E. Bayliff died, leaving John E. Bayliff to manage Bayliff & Son Funeral Home. John had been raised in the funeral home. He started at a very young age cleaning cars, and by the age of 12 he was helping with the ambulance service.

1979:

The Cridersville Crematory was added to the many services offered by the funeral home. This was the first crematory opened in the area. Before this addition, the closest crematories were in Columbus, Dayton, Toledo and Ft. Wayne, IN.

1995:

The Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society was created. At this time it was the only statewide cremation society with several offices.

1999:

A new crematory, Bayliff & Son Pet Crematory, was opened to allow families to say goodbye to faithful and cherished family friends.

2009:

Bayliff and Son Funeral Home receives the National Funeral Directors Association s Pursuit of Excellence Award for consistently providing outstanding service to families, ongoing education to staff and adherence to only the highest ethical and professional standards.
